Legendary pianist Alfred Brendel bids farewell to Birmingham in his final Symphony Hall concert on 24 June.

The pianist has announced his intention to retire at the end of the year. He first appeared at Symphony Hall in the second season when he undertook a cycle of all the Beethoven sonatas, and has been a regular visitor ever since. His final Symphony Hall recital – which also provides a fitting conclusion to the 2007/08 Birmingham International Concert Season – will be his 15th appearance at the hall.
