Town Hall’s £35m renovation won Project of the Year in the West Midlands in the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors Awards at an annual regional dinner last night (22 May) hosted by broadcaster Nick Owen. Town Hall also topped the building conservation category, which values attention to background research, the materials and techniques used and the long-term prospects of the project.

The RICS Awards have been held for 18 years and celebrate exemplary projects in four categories – building conservation, regeneration, sustainability and community benefit. The awards recognise improvements to the built or natural environment that make a long-term contribution to the viability and prosperity of an area.
