A capacity audience bade farewell to the legendary pianist Alfred Brendel at Symphony Hall on Tuesday (24 June).

The pianist was greeted with standing ovations on the occasion of his final recital at the Hall and was afterwards presented with a framed print of Symphony Hall. Alfred Brendel has been a regular visitor since the Hall opened and his 15th and final recital also proved a fitting conclusion to the 2007/08 Birmingham International Concert Season. He has announced he plans retire at the end of the year.
